LCS has been going strong for ten years now and to mark such a historic achievement, game developers Riot teamed up with LCS to honor some of the names that have made it possible to come so far.

A round-up of the best of the best, as it were, was put to the vote and some of the game's most famous players made the cut. The online ballot was held between the^14th and the^17th of August, 2022.

There are no surprises concerning the inclusion of some of the well-known names. An example is Jeong “Impact” Eon-young, who besides being one of the greatest top laners to play the game, also has the silverware in his cabinet to back it up. He is joined by Yiliang “Peter” Peng in the same category.

When it comes to the title of best mid-laner, it surely belongs to Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg whose exploits are legendary among those who follow the game.

The full list not only included the names we mentioned above, but also some other great players who have achieved so much for the LCS over the past 10 years. A total of ten players made the final cut, and they are:

While every name on that list surely deserves to be there, it was important to come up with an overall winner. That distinction went to Bjergsen, who was closely followed by Doublelift as runner-up and Impact in the third position.

The choice of who is the greatest of all time is purely subjective, especially in such a complex game as LoL, where even seemingly small contributions can have a massive impact on the overall results.

In the end, it was Bjergsen's six titles and four MVP awards that proved too good to ignore, especially considering that his form never wavered even when playing internationally.

If it wasn't going to be him the Doublelift would have walked away with the spoils. He has managed to rack up an impressive 11 titles throughout his career. However, during that time, Doublelift has only been awarded the MVP award once, with Bjergsen regularly out-performing him.

The key takeaway from this year’s vote was a sudden realization of the wealth of talent that has graced the LCS over the past decade. With the level of competition continuously improving every year, one can only wonder what the next decade will bring.

This year did not bring good news for the super-teams in the professional League of Legends scene, especially for Team Liquid.

Despite having a 2022 LCS roster packed with award-winning veteran players, including superstars from North America and Europe, Team Liquid's attempt to secure a victory in the spring and summer games didn't pay off.

While Liquid had hoped to be the NA super-team ahead of the North American World Championship, a less-than-spectacular failure kept them out of the renowned LCS event.

The result was very different from what Liquid promised: There is no qualification for League of Legends Worlds 2022.

You might know from our article about the Vitality roster, that big names and excessive spending might not be enough to lift the trophy. Let’s look at how the project went wrong.

Through an announcement on Twitter, Team Liquid CEO Steve Arhancet confirmed what many expected: the LCS roster would be changed before the 2023 season.

Before the revealing news, Arhancet apologized to fans for the team's disappointing performance this year.

While the CEO hoped to create what would likely be the best roster North America had ever seen while the region was hosting the event, the organization's excellence and legacy took a hit.

Arhancet said creating the lineup involved a multi-stage, time-consuming process and required a large budget.

Partners and interested parties committed to the project, knowing its importance and the investment made.

However, all the money the franchise put into the project wasn't enough to keep it afloat. As a result, the experiment failed and was disappointing, putting the super-teams' future in doubt.

With a mix of North American veterans and superstars from Europe, Team Liquid's LCS roster was the most promising this season.

All the players had experience in national and international events. In fact, each member had already made it to the LoL World Championships with their respective teams.

However, many consider individual brilliance to have trumped the synergy a team needs to pull off a win.

As a result, the team failed to win any national titles in either the summer or spring or secure their long-awaited spot as one of three representatives at the LCS World Championship.

While the organization expects to duplicate the "successful" areas, the concept of building super-teams is no longer considered reliable.

Team Liquid hopes to build its players using the existing structure instead of the super-team formula, abandoning it almost entirely.

Arhacent did not elaborate on how Liquid planned to change its lineup or reveal which players were leaving or staying.

Liquid's Academy team also took the LCS Proving Grounds' first place during the spring and summer.

According to multiple sources, prominent North American player Søren 'Bjergsen' Bjerg is leaving Team Liquid after a year and will be a free agent starting in 2023, considering LCS and LEC offers.

Other insiders say Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in is the only player in the starting lineup to move from Liquid's main team to free agency during the offseason.

The rest of the players, except for Steven "Hans Sama" Liv - who will be until 2024, signed with the franchise until 2023.

In either scenario, a significant roster change must include trades with other teams or contract transfers.

Due to the game's nature, a team in any League of Legends tournament has little to no chance of winning unless players work as one, which Rogue has proven in 2022 as they emerged victorious when no one believed in them. The collapse of Team Liquid is proof of that fact.

Rogue is a brilliant group of young players that counts Odoamne, an LoL veteran and fantastic player as one of its team members. However, despite his obvious talents and the incredible support unit that he has, Odoamne was yet to taste ultimate victory in the LEC.

Before reading, you might want to learn about what competition Rogue had to overcome as this years has been one of the most stacked years of the LEC, where on paper most teams could have been contenders for the trophy!

That is until one amazing Sunday, on the^11th of September, 2022 when everything changed.

Over the years, Rogue has always played well in the LEC but for some reason has always been defeated by the tournament’s eventual winners. This was their third appearance in the final, with their veteran player Odoamne having played in this tournament for seven years.

However, the third time was really the charm in this case, with Rogue digging deep to overcome a very resilient and talented G2 team, the reigning champions who surprised everyone when they smashed the LEC last season. That magical night in Sweden will forever remain in the hearts of Rogue fans around the world.

In typical Rogue fashion, the team certainly didn’t make things easy for themselves in this year’s LEC tournament. Arriving on the back of a fairly decent league run that saw them rack up 11 wins and seven losses, no one would have backed Rouge for the title.

Rogue went into the tournament with a fresh-faced team of players, including Markos "Comp" Stamkopoulos and Kim "Malrang" Geun-Seong, a former DAMWON KIA substitute jungler.

At first, the addition of the new players did not seem to be the best solution for Rogue, as they struggled to a narrow victory over the MAD Lions before being outclassed by eventual runners-up G2.

The result of this painful defeat was that the only way to the championship was by defeating Fnatic, one of the powerhouses of Europe. After such as dismal showing against G2, no one really expected the clash to end in any other way but with a resounding victory for Fnatic.

However, the LEC world was in for one of the upsets of the tournament after Odoamne managed to rally his troops and launch a massive assault that would eventually see them taking down Fnatic in a memorable 3-1 victory.

The victory earned Rogue a rematch with G2, and this time the underdogs came prepared. Drafting Comp and Malrang proved to be a great decision after all as the pair dealt blow after blow to the G2 side. Rouge eventually walked away as 3-0 winners and LEC champions for the first time!

In the meantime, the world renowned team, TSM has been through arguably its worst season in organizations history.

This year’s prize pool at the 2022 LEC was a cool US$79,999.68, a worthy amount for any champion. However, the chance to be^1st seed in the ongoing LoL 2022 World Championship has the potential to be a lot more valuable. Only time will tell how well Rogue can make use of this advantage.

TSM (Team SoloMid) had a poor performance in the 2022 LCS (League of Legends Championship Series) Spring Split, and it’s been the talk of the gaming world for a few weeks now. In a sense, TSM is at the bottom in standings after the heartbreaking defeat of GG (Golden Guardians) in Week Two, Day Two of the playoffs. Off the Rift TSM also had troubles as their founder and owner Reginald has been investigated for abusive workplace behavior.

It sits at the bottom along with its archrivals called CLG (Counter Logic Gaming). This is the worst LCS season in TSM history, and this organization has now gone without a single win for the first two weeks of any season.

In December 2021, TSM said it was sticking with Mingyi Spica Lu and the top-laner Heo Seung-hoon during the 2022 season. They’re the only players from the roster in 2021 to be retained.

TSM announced that Edward Tactical Ra is set to join the team. He was the former attack damage carry player for Team Liquid. The organization also said it was bringing in two Chinese players (Wei Shenyi Zi-Jie and Zhu Keaiduo Xiong) to round out the roster.

Team SoloMid faced off with Golden Guardians for the second day of Week Two in the LCS Spring Split for 2022. Both of the teams were at 0-2, and Golden Guardians got two consecutive wins to come out on top.

The match was all cat-and-mouse when the teams struggled to win. After a 42-minute brawl, GG broke the TSM nexus. However, no one predicted that GG might win after the first minute because the team got pushed behind the TSM lines after invading the enemy jungle.

Still, as the match progressed, both teams were close in terms of kills and gold advantage. Overall, GG secured the dragon soul. Anytime TSM went toward a neutral map objective, GG took away part of the base.

As the final blow, TSM tried breaking open the GG base with the Elder Dragon but lost.

The LCS began on February 5, 2022, with TSM head-to-head against EG (Evil Geniuses), which took second place for the Lock-in Tournament.

However, TSM’s roster didn’t participate in that tournament because of travel-related problems and visa issues.

In the opening match for the Spring Split, EG won. TSM had an underwhelming performance, which continued into the second day of the first week when it lost to Dignitas.

Week Two held high hopes for TSM to win against the Golden Guardians and FlyQuest. However, that didn’t happen.

Despite those four losses (back to back), TSM had some promising moments during the tournament. In the match with Golden Guardians, it picked up objectives and closed the gap while performing well in team fights.

The top-laner, Huni, said he expected TSM to struggle during the Split and come back strong in the summer. He said his team had fewer hours to practice and many language barriers but was sure to make it. In fact, many of these strategies boil down to avoiding cNed completely. He’s literally the Minato of Valorant right now. TenZ TenZ currently plays with Sentinels, though he began his time Valorant with Cloud9 Blue. This fragger’s strength comes from his unpredictability. Typically, at the top level, you expect certain kinds of structured plays, but TenZ throws the rulebook out the window. He is an incredible duelist (and he clearly lives for the duels) and his reaction speed is next level. No matter who you are, if you run into TenZ using Raze, Jett, or Reyna, it's likely over for you. TenZ is also giving advice about the game on his stream to help players improve. If you are even more dedicated to bettering your skills in Valorant, coaching is a more advanced option for you. nAts So, nAts is a bit of an interesting one. Playing Viper and Cypher, you'd expect that he would thrive only in the supportive role. Don't get things wrong here, he very much does that well. However, not many support players can feel like such a one-man army and sweep up all the kills in a given game. He's not necessarily aggressive, but he knows how to pick his moment incredibly well, striking opponents down unawares. SicK SicK’s strength lies in his versatility. There is no doubt that he stands out the most as a duelist, but he can be whatever his team needs. You may see him playing Sage, Sova, or even Phoenix. Those who have been following his esports career know that this is not his first rodeo as a dominant FPS player. Before this, he made quite the name for himself in the CS:GO arena. The Sentinels found a high utility player here, and you need only review footage of his Phoenix in tandem with TenZ’s Jett to see how much of a monster the pairing can be. If you are tired of doing your weeklies over and over again, hire a dedicated player to complete the Valorant challenges for you! Delz1k Delz1k, a player known for Viper, Astra, and Brimstone play, rounds out this list. Like nAts, you would assume that he generally plays a supportive role based on his characters of choice. Again, he can be as supportive as his team needs and he’s great at it. However, what he's known for is his insanely aggressive style that makes use of inhuman reactions and split-second decision-making. Final Remarks This is by no means an exhaustive list. There are certainly honorable mentions including Chronicle, ScreaM, Leaf, and Yay. You have no shortage of talent to get excited about in upcoming competition. So, who is this super team that Team Vitality has managed to put together? Just in case you haven't already heard the news, it consists of Perkz, Alphari, Selfmade, Carzzy, and Labrov.

These are all amazing players, but Alphari and Perkz, who just returned from his succesfull C9 journey arguably have a lot more to prove than the other three. Clearly, Team Vitality it isn't playing around, but this whole shebang may not turn out as well as expected.

When you hear a series of big names being put together, the initial thought is probably along the lines of “the opponents are not going to know what hit them.” However, if G2 Esports’ 2021 super team was anything to go by, that's not always the case, though they did manage to fund success for their team next year.

G2’s turn of events isn't even the first example of this problem, which you can break downbje into the hype and the personalities.

The hype train is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges in this kind of environment. You already know that the fans expect dominating performances from a team consisting of all these names.

Unfortunately, not everyone is conditioned to deal with that kind of pressure. Bear in mind that even with a fairly good season, if such a team is not winning absolutely everything, it's not seen as a success in the eyes of the hype-fueling public.

What does this mean? Well, for many teams that have found themselves in this situation, they simply crumble under the pressure. That's not to say Team Vitality can’t find itself in the minority that delivers and then some.

This is probably the bigger part of the concern. After all, if a team dynamic is well established, there's no reason why it can't hunker down, shake off the jitters created by public hype, band together, and let the skills do the talking.

The problem here is that it requires personalities that gel well. One of the challenges with high-profile players is often a lack of humility or comradery. The prevailing belief is that Alphari and Perkz in particular are going to be butting heads quite a bit.

Selfmade’s name has also been thrown into the hat, based on how he's believed to see himself.LoL Smurf accounts are a popular choice for players who are looking for a new challenge.

Think about this. Selfmade and Perkz being a jungle and mid, respectively, need to enable their teammates for this whole arrangement to work out. Unfortunately, the jury is still out on the extent to which that's going to happen.

There is no doubt that if all the team members can put the good of the team before themselves, their skills should take them to the top. How likely is that to happen though?

Team Vitality certainly built anticipation with the way it delayed the announcement, so much so that some fans were underwhelmed.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, can this unit function as a well-oiled machine, or are the hype and the big personalities going to cause an implosion?

Right now, Victory Five is on the road to the playoffs for the first time, as only the top ten teams will qualify. The team's choice of signing on Rookie to the team plays a vital part in their success. Unfortunately, Rookie's former team of Invictus Gaming is not in the ranking to go to the playoffs this year. Possibly due to the loss of a strong player. Winning your games is always important, though Rookie outperformed everyone during the regular split, he couldn’t ensure that they shine in playoffs however, you can indeed make sure that you win all of your games with the ranked win boosting services.

This is proving to be yet another great year for G2 Esports, after a historic win against Rouge, in the final game of the League Of Legends European Championship 2022 Spring play-offs. Moreover, this win saw G2 being crowned champions of Europe for a record 9^th time and solidifying their position as the most decorated team in the history of the tournament.

After defeating longtime rivals Fnatic 3-0 in a thrilling, one-sided semi-final clash, G2 Esports carried their momentum straight into the finals. With such a boost of confidence, and a star-studded team, G2 was simply no match for Rouge, and the latter was quickly dispatched 3-0 to end their hopes of lifting the European Championship Trophy. To make the victory even sweeter for G2, they played these play-offs finals in front of a live crowd. Quite different from when they lost last year's final, which was played during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic. Whether having the presence of the crowd had any effect on the team is anyone's guess, but they certainly appreciated having their fans cheering them on.

In typical G2 fashion, the team started the game with the confidence and single-mindedness that fans have come to expect from them. Right from the start, Rouge was in trouble. G2 started the game on the red side, and immediately ran the tried and tested Ahri-Jarvan IV combination that they used, to overwhelming success, against Fnatic in the series semifinal.

Rouge tried to counter with a matching mid lane but their inability to control the bot lane proved to be their undoing. G2 Esports' rookie starlet duo of Raphael "Targamas" Crabbe and Victor "Flakked" Lilora were just too good at controlling the bot lane for Rogue, and G2 was able to secure a quick succession of fights.

There was a ray of hope for Rouge in game three, which they started very well. They had 12 minutes of complete domination thanks to the heroics of Malrang, who went on an impressive killing spree.

Things looked good for team Rouge until Targamas rallied with a moment of magic for G2. His quick and brutal triple kill put a stop to Rouge's advance and suddenly G2 was back in control. On the other hand, with ranked win boosting services you’d never have to worry about losing a game again!

The recent triumph of EDward Gaming at the Worlds 2021 is more than just a championship for the team and many other people in China.

Nevertheless, the momentous qualification of the finals got the spirits of fans undoubtedly high. After nearly 10 years in the LPL, which saw them appear on the Worlds many times and win six domestic titles, the team finally reached the stage fans had always envisioned.

Even though there was still a reason to worry about whether EDG would be able to complete their extraordinary journey, they defeated tough opponents from Gen.G to Royal Never Give Up before facing DWG.

Most fans expected the magic of EDG to expire just then and there. That is why the score was behind 2-1 during the series.

The team's wariness was on the ideology of the fans being right. However, to the fans' surprise, the team started playing above expectations just before EDG was done with the tournament.

Riot Games has started an investigation into allegations against Team SoloMid CEO and founder Andy “Reginald” Dinh. People claim that he has been using bullying and verbal abuse in his dealings with others. WIRED was the first to hear about it and report it, contacting Riot Games specifically.

As part of the response to WIRED, Riot Games claimed that it must conduct an independent investigation into the claims of misconduct made against the team leader. To do that, it engaged the O’Melveny & Myers LLP Law Firm.

Reginald, AKA “Regi,” now faces the investigation into his bullying allegations.

Regi is a former player, CEO, and founder for Team SoloMid, which is now being called TSM FTX. Though TSM operates in many games, such as Apex and Valorant, its most significant one is the League of Legends team. It’s been part of LoL and LCS since its inception and was a staple on the scene before that.

The abuse and bullying allegations against Regi are many and have common threads. For instance, employees spoke with WIRED and claimed that Dinh didn’t use normal criticism. Instead, he resorted to insults like saying, “You’re trash.” Employees claimed that behavior created a fear culture in the organization.

Regi downplayed the allegations, saying they’re symptoms of his direct attitude and bluntness. He said that his vocabulary was too harsh or ineffective at times. Overall, he knew he had to work on delivery and communicating more effectively with his team and others.

However, such allegations are no surprise to people familiar with the documented history for TSM. Anyone can search on YouTube to find videos of Regi shouting with players, using boxing matches to resolve team disputes, and publicly berating the teammates.

While they might be used for laughs or have a light-hearted undertone, it’s hard to imagine that his persona onscreen doesn’t match or transfer to what happens in real life.

Most teams streamed a lot in the early days when LCS was beginning. It was common to find post-scrim arguments, team confrontations, and conflicts.

While the past videos were likely entertaining, they might now be documenting the malicious side of TSM. Riot Games could pursue legal action against Andy Dinh if he’s found guilty of the allegations. If so, it should have tons of evidence to help the case.

Plus, this isn’t the first time that Riot Games had to put sanctions on Dinh. He had “conduct unbecoming” back in March of 2021, which got him a $5,000 fine. This was in response to a Tweet he made against Philippe Vulcan Laflamme, a Cloud9 player at the time. Dinh claimed that Laflamme would have been out of a job if LCS hadn’t come along.

The investigation into Dinh’s behavior is still ongoing. There’s no news about it so far, so we can only hope that they are still looking into it. With TSM Reginald investigated by LCS, it looks to be that people are standing up for their rights to work in a safe and comfortable setting. Yelling, screaming, and boxing matches aren’t the way to handle disputes anymore (though they shouldn’t have been used in the first place).

Though KT Rolster tried to choke out T1 in the jungle, T1 took control of every match and ended with a 2-0 streak.

You may not realize it, but Faker set two records in the last few months. He locked in with Trynadamere in the match against DRK, making him the 70^th champion to be used in the LCK and the 74^th in his entire career.

Corki was the main problem from the beginning of the season. However, the G.O.A.T. proves that Barbarian King is a great counter against the Daring Bombardier.

Counting on the lack of crowd control for Corki, Faker pushed back and clocked eight kills within the match. This set up his game-winning assault for his team.

Though Faker is known for his mastery of LeBlanc, Orianna, and Azir, he has made some oddball selections. Trynadamere is the fourth one Faker played professionally once and won with once. The other three were Vex, Poppy, and Olaf. Faker’s also played other champions like Lux, Quinn, Kayle, and Darius, once, but he lost with those and never picked them again.

On March 3, Faker beat another record in the match with Gen.G. He got his 2,500^th kill with the LeBlanc pick. He’s the only pro player in LoL to get this record, though Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu from DRX has over 2,000.

Bjergsen had to prove himself he had what's needed to return to competitive gaming, but to do that, he had to go through intensive training of up to 10 hours of playing.

However, that wasn't enough for him. He ended up taking an intensive Bootcamp in Korea to get back in shape, where he would intensively dedicate himself to the learning phase and test his limits to see if he still had the endurance needed to train like a pro.
